The flag of the United States, called the Star-Spangled Banner, has thirteen stripes, six whites and seven red. They are a graphic memory that the thirteen original colonies. There were:
. New Hampshire
. Massachusetts
. Rhode Island
. Connecticut
. New York
. New Jersey
. Pennsylvania
. Delaware
. Maryland
. Virginia
. North Carolina
. South Carolina
. Georgia
It’s possible to see that group of states on the east coast of North America.
The immensity of the current country's territory is amazing: from east to west, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific; from north to south, from Canada to the Caribbean Ocean and Mexico. Americans are proud of their dimensions, but they never forget their original and humble geographical status: thirteen small territories in eastern North America. They remember that on the flag, in its thirteen stripes. It is an example of historical humility.
Never forget where you come from. Moses told to the Israelites: “And you shall answer and say before the Lord your God: ‘My father was a Syrian, about to perish, and he went down to Egypt and dwelt there, few in number; and there he became a nation, great, mighty, and populous” (Dt. 26:5) NKJV.
Never forget your origin. Never forget it.
